Activities of the Center for East Asian Studies of the University of Gdańsk

The setting up of the Center for East Asian Studies of the University of Gdańsk (CSAW UG), by a resolution of the UG Senate of 22 February 2007, was a response to the need to create a platform for substantive and organizational cooperation with the countries of East Asia at the University of Gdańsk. The new unit was established by Ordinance of the Rector of the University of Gdańsk No. 15/ R/07 of 22 February 2007 on the establishment of the Center for East Asian Studies of the University of Gdańsk. Pursuant to § 1 of this Ordinance, CSAW UG is a university-wide non-faculty unit of the University of Gdańsk, and the rules of its operation are specified in the regulations constituting an appendix to this ordinance. The Center is managed by a Director who, in accordance with the regulations, is appointed by the Rector from among academics dealing with East Asia.

In the years 2007–2011, this function was held by Professor Ewa Oziewicz from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, and since October 2011 it has been held by Professor Kamil Zeidler from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk. The CSAW UG is supervised by the Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Wiesław Laskowski.
